7:30 pm: “Let’s (Try to) Count all the Birds in Pennsylvania!” by Amber Weiwel, Pennsylvania Bird Atlas Coordinator

Pennsylvania’s 3rd Bird Atlas is a statewide community science project to document the birds breeding and overwintering in the state. The Atlas will improve our understanding of the distribution and abundance of PA birds and will inform conservation and management of birds and their habitats. Find out how you can contribute by counting birds in Pennsylvania during this 5-year project!

Amber grew up in Missouri where she first fell in love with birds in the Ozarks. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri and a master’s degree from Iowa State University. She worked as a wildlife biologist for the US Geological Survey before taking on the role of Pennsylvania Bird Atlas Coordinator in 2023.
