Join us Sunday, April 6th, 2025 at 6:00 PM, in the Northern Blair Recreational Center parking lot, near the side gate. We’ll take a walk around the Ray Amato Trail in search of “the shorebird that abandoned the shore”; the American Woodcock. Early spring is the perfect time to locate this incredible bird as it performs its elaborate displays at dusk and dawn around wet forested areas. In our case, these birds utilize the Robert P. Brooks Wetland behind the Northern Blair Recreational Center. Last year we had 7 American Woodcocks displaying, with several flights over head.
WHAT TO BRING: Binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, drink, or snack if desired.
Trail conditions are level, flat, but may be occasionally damp or wet in places. Dress accordingly.
